Something's wrong. We'll find out what.
Electrical faults rarely advertise themselves clearly. A tripping breaker, a socket that's stopped working, a light that flickers when nothing else does — these things have a cause. We find it, and we fix it.
Why electrical faults are worth taking seriously
It's tempting to reset the breaker and move on. Often it works — for a while. But a circuit that keeps tripping, a socket that's intermittently dead, or a light that behaves unpredictably isn't just an inconvenience. It's a signal that something in the installation isn't right.
The most common causes — an overloaded circuit, a failing appliance, a deteriorating connection, or a fault in the wiring itself — range from straightforward to fix to genuinely serious. The difficulty is that none of them announce which category they're in.
Good fault finding is methodical. It means testing systematically, eliminating causes, and identifying the actual source of the problem rather than its nearest visible symptom. A fix that addresses the symptom without the cause tends to be temporary.

Common questions
How quickly can you come out?
For most fault jobs, we can get to you within the week — often sooner. Get in touch and we'll tell you current availability. Genuinely urgent situations are discussed case by case.
Do you charge for the diagnosis separately?
The diagnostic process is part of the job. We'll give you a call-out rate that covers the time to assess and diagnose the fault. Once we know what it is, we'll quote for the repair before carrying it out.
What if you can't find the fault?
It's rare, but some intermittent faults are difficult to replicate during a single visit. If that happens, we'll be honest about it and discuss the next steps — which sometimes means a more detailed investigation, or monitoring the installation over time.
My fuse board keeps tripping — is that dangerous?
It depends on why it's tripping. A circuit that trips occasionally under heavy load is doing its job. One that trips frequently, won't reset, or trips without obvious cause is worth investigating. If you're unsure, get in touch and we'll advise.
Can you repair work done by another electrician?
Yes. We'll assess what's there, tell you what we find, and carry out any remedial work needed. We won't comment on other tradespeople's work beyond what's technically relevant.
